Who I am & my journey
Hello! My name is Claudia! So before tattooing, I was an Esthetician. After receiving my license, I worked at different spas doing all the typical services you can think of. I really enjoyed working with clients and providing an effective service but, I quickly realized that something was missing in my life. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I had this itch to do something more creative and artistic in my career. One day, I came across permanent makeup and tattooing eyebrows I thought, that's it!
I first took a 5 day fundamental training for microblading and then a few years later took a 3 day training for ombre powder brows. Each training had a class of about 8-10 students so it was difficult to get enough 1 on 1 time and guidance from the instructors. The classes were led straight from the manuals and there was minimal insight given for each topic as time was limited and there were many women with questions. It was all a bit rushed that when it was time to actually tattoo our models on the last day, everyone including me was nervous. Like sick to our stomachs, shaking in our boots nervous! We got through our models with the guidance of the instructors and swiftly received our certificates. I felt like I was in over my head and felt unprepared after “graduating” that I began to do my own research and began to learn a lot on my own time. I realized how important and beneficial it was to study and practice before going to an in person training because honestly speaking, 3-5 days learning "theory" then straight to tattooing the face was not enough time or experience to then take clients on your own.
After some practice alone at home on fake skins and gathering more information, I found an amazing mentor in town that not only guided me through my first few clients but also helped me rethink the way I saw myself and my career. She really helped me set the tone for my future and it was then that I began to believe in myself a lot more than I already did. I was able to open my very own private tattoo loft within months of working with her. I began having lots of new clients and lots of referrals which was great but that feeling of “something was missing” was still lingering.
I absolutely loved tattooing eyebrows but I felt like I wanted to explore more tattooing options and wanted to get even more creative within my career. I missed doodling, coloring and drawing like I did when I was a kid. I remembered it feeling so fun and liberating and before I knew it, tiny tattoos popped up on my Instagram explore page and I instantly FELL IN LOVE. I know, so cheesy but it's true. I knew better at this point so I did more research, found the very information I am going to be sharing with you today, and I began practicing on my own at home. I felt confident to tattoo since I had the actual breakdown of everything right at my fingertips and the experience from tattooing faces. I decided to take an in person training that was more than five times the price of my online training but the instructor seemed legit and i just wanted to solidify everything I was doing at home. Once again I went, learned the bare minimum from simple slides on their computer, tattooed with her supervision, got my certificate and came back home but this time around, I came home feeling way different. I knew that I felt so good about tiny fine line tattooing because of the practice and study I did before the in person training. If I did not do that and solely depended on the in person training and material, I would not have felt confident at all. I finally felt like I was doing what I was supposed to be doing in life. From there, I grew to where I am now- owning a private shop in my favorite city, living in my dream apartment with my cat, tattooing tiny things for the most amazing people everyday, creating my own schedule and getting to share all of this with you!
So I want you to take my story and really understand that anything is possible as long as you do your part researching as much as you can, practicing as much as you can and truly believing that you can do this! What I learned through my entire journey up until this point is that nothing works if you don't and nothing happens if you don't have the right mindset. You can be the best artist in the world but if you don't have a positive outlook on your journey and your life, nothing will happen the way you want. You have the power to create ANYTHING you dream of, you just have to imagine it and fight like crazy to make it happen. I hope you take this guide as far as you can like I did! I believe in you!
Love,
Claudia
